Party tip of the day: supplement an oversized cake with sheet cake.

Another savings tip for wedding cakes... or any cake for that matter. Have a small cake for the cake cutting ceremony and supplement it with a sheet cake, served from the kitchen.
Guests will not care about the size of the cake or even which cake they are actually eating. For your event, get a smaller cake made and decorated for you to cut during the cake cutting ceremony. Have a plain sheet cake made as well and let the kitchen staff serve that to the guests.
